When a child is affected by cancer, parents and caregivers often face the challenge of supporting their child while navigating complex emotions as a family. In this virtual program, Crossroads4Hope and Emmanuel Cancer Foundation will provide guidance on how to talk to children, siblings, and friends about cancer using language that is appropriate for different developmental stages.

Participants will also explore ways to manage the emotional ups and downs of the cancer journey through support from family and friends, as well as self-care practices for caregivers. The program will introduce free resources and support services available through both organizations, and attendees will receive a curated book list and hands-on activities to help children express their emotions."

Cognitive Fitness: Beating Brain Fog

Many people experience changes in memory, focus, and mental clarity during or after cancer treatment---often referred to as ""brain fog."" In partnership with Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, this session will provide an overview of cognition, the impact of cognitive changes on daily life, and the principles of neuroplasticity.

Participants will learn practical strategies to support cognitive health, including techniques to improve focus and memory, as well as brain-stimulating activities that can help strengthen mental function over time. This program offers helpful tools for individuals looking to better understand and manage cognitive changes."

Genetic Counseling and Testing

Genetic testing can bring clarity to understanding cancer risk, but it often comes with questions about what the results really mean.

Presented by Kacie Baker, MS, LGC, in partnership with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital -- Long Branch, this in-person program explores hereditary cancers, clears up common myths about genetics, and reviews current trends in genetic medicine.

This session will also cover practical considerations such as insurance, privacy, cost, turnaround time, and family impact, including cascade testing. Our goal is to help you feel informed and empowered when considering whether genetic counseling is right for you.

This in-person panel is designed to educate, inspire, and foster meaningful connection, creating a supportive space for open dialogue between panelists and attendees. Participants will have the opportunity to listen, learn, and engage in conversation, leaving with a deeper sense of community and support.

Taller de cuida de la piel

Únase a nosotros en un taller educativo enfocado en la concientización, prevención y detección temprana del cáncer de piel. Esta sesión informativa explorará los diferentes tipos de cáncer de piel, los factores de riesgo más comunes y las principales señales de advertencia a las que debemos prestar atención.

Los participantes también aprenderán sobre los ABCDE del melanoma y comprenderán la importancia de realizarse exámenes regulares de la piel para una detección temprana.
