In June 2007, at just 21, Matthew came to Crossroads4Hope with a heavy heart from a recent brain cancer diagnosis, seeking a place where hope was not just a word, but a guiding light in a world suddenly immersed in fear and uncertainty. His return to Crossroads4Hope is not just a chapter in his story but a powerful reminder of the unparalleled strength and hope found in community support.
Join us at our Annual Conference on Cancer to hear Matthew’s inspiring story firsthand.

From Patient to Person: Identity Development and Life Milestones for AYA’s with Cancer
Join us as we explore the intersection of cancer care and the unique life challenges faced by adolescents and young adults (AYA), with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ needs. This session delves into the common milestones and difficulties encountered by AYA’s during their cancer treatment, highlighting how these experiences impact their identity development. We will emphasize navigating complex life changes, including medical treatment, emotional shifts, and social adjustments, and how these factors intertwine with the ongoing formation of personal identity within the AYA community.
